Milky Way TV #21: high noon challenge

I love my golden hour sessions – but, sometimes you have a client who needs that dreaded ‘noon-time’ session.

What to do?  In this week’s episode, join me on a #highnoonchallenge!

Key things to remember:

#1. Shade is your friend!
But look for open shade (ie: your client is in shade, but they are looking towards open sky – this will help get light in their eyes!)

#2. Watch out for dappled light!
Those are the little ‘specks’ of light that will filter through trees.  It happens – and unless the sun is literally directly overhead, there will be a way to place your subject so they are (slightly) backlit, which should avoid the dappled parts to cover their faces!

#3. Go location scouting to find places that work for mid-day sun.
Tall trees + buildings can help cast more shadows – but not all locations work for all times of the day.  So be sure to visit your favourite places at various times so you know exactly where you will want to position clients (before they arrive!!)
