A Community for Everyone.
When all voices are heard and reflected,
all feel welcome.
That hasn’t been the case and we sincerely apologize.
We have work to do, and we’re here to do it.
At The Milky Way we’re committed to transforming into a more inclusive, diverse company across race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, and experience.
To truly do this, we need team members, teachers, and advisors that reflect all of our students.
Here are some concrete action steps we’ve taken:
(or are in the process of implementing)
Updating our website to reflect our whole community.
Ensuring our future online experiences and podcast guests include a diverse line-up of educators and speakers.
Seeking out more student features and teacher images that showcase everyone that we can share on social.
Hiring a diversity advisor to help us see our blind spots & biases and keep us moving forward on creating more inclusive online experiences for our students & teachers
Providing anti-racist resources and on-going training for everyone on our team.
Reaching out to build relationships with photographers of colour and the LGBTQ+ community.
Requesting our teachers to include diversity in their workshops and featured images.
As our company grows, we will be seeking to add diversity to our team.
We are committed to meaningful, long-term change.
And we welcome input on other ways we can move towards a more inclusive company and feedback where we are falling short.
Here are some resources we have found helpful as we learn (and unlearn).
